Kenseth takes fourth in Texas 500 but maybe too late to win Cup
Wisconsin Sports-- Matt Kenseth of Cambridge is making a late run for the NASCAR Sprint Cup season title – but it appears to be too late. Kenseth jumped three places to Number-five in the Chase standings, after he finished fourth yesterday at the Triple-“A” Texas-500 in Fort Worth.
FT. WORTH, Tex. - Matt Kenseth of Cambridge is making a late run for the NASCAR Sprint Cup season title – but it appears to be too late. Kenseth jumped three places to Number-five in the Chase standings, after he finished fourth yesterday at the Triple-“A” Texas-500 in Fort Worth.
There are only two races left, and Kenseth is 72 points behind Jimmie Johnson – who won his second straight race and extended his lead in the standings to seven points. Johnson passed Brad Keselowski for the lead with less than two laps to go yesterday, and then won by eight-tenths of a second. Keselowski is second in the Chase standings, followed by Clint Bowyer and Kasey Kahne.
Travis Kvapil of Janesville finished 23rd in the race, and he moved up one place in the standings for 28th. Nationwide Series’ driver Danica Patrick, who was born in Beloit, finished 24th. Paul Menard of Eau Claire took 27th, and he remains 16th for the year.
