The past two years have been unprecedented in Wisconsin politics. Our state was divided in half and experienced an unprecedented election cycle. Now that the election cycle is over, it is time for legislators to come together, work with one another and move Wisconsin forward.

When I was first asking for your vote as a candidate for the State Assembly back in 2008, I promised to work in collaboration with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle. I am proud to have worked with Democrats and Republicans alike to introduce responsible legislation that puts the priorities of our community and the people of Wisconsin first. As I begin my third term in office, I will continue to work in a bipartisan manner while standing up for my constituents. We simply cannot afford to let partisan differences get in the way of the things that matter to Wisconsin families and will help move our state forward.

Making sure people have good paying jobs so they can pay their mortgage and contribute to our local economy is a bipartisan issue. Having quality schools to educate and prepare our children to enter the workforce and become responsible citizens is a bipartisan issue. Guaranteeing people have access to necessary health care and services is a bipartisan issue. Ensuring our natural resources and recreational opportunities are protected and remain clean for future generations is a bipartisan issue. These are the things that our communities and people across Wisconsin want to see now and in the future.

While some of my colleagues will choose to focus on what divides us, I will continue to focus on what unites us here in Wisconsin. I firmly believe there are plenty of things we agree on and we will realize common goals by working together. As I get ready for the next legislative session to begin in January, I will continue talking to constituents to see what is important in our community and I will reach out to my colleagues on both sides of the aisle in an effort to discover common goals and ideas.

It has been a true privilege serving you the past four years in the Wisconsin State Assembly and I look forward to being your voice in the 2013-2014 legislative session.
