Propane truck in rollover east of Ellsworth

A rollover crash on Hwy. 72 near CTH BB, one-half mile east of the Ellsworth Rod and Gun Club, was reported to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Wednesday at 6:30 a.m.

The driver of the propane tank was uninjured Wednesday morning when it rolled over on State Highway 72 in El Paso.

James Fabos, 47, Altoona, was driving a 2010 Freightliner 2,000 gallon tanker westbound on 387th St. and STH 72 when the truck hit the shoulder of the road and he overcorrected. The truck then rolled onto its side, sliding across both lanes of STH 72. The truck then entered the ditch and rolled, where it came to rest. The accident happened at 6:51 a.m., according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.

Fabos was wearing a seatbelt and was uninjured. He denied medical treatment, according to Deputy Adam Olson. Olson also said the initial cause of the crash was driver fatigue. The eastbound lane of Hwy. 72 was blocked from 9:30 a.m. to shortly after 11 a.m. while the truck was towed out of the ditch. Flagging operations were done at the scene.

Wisconsin State Patrol, Ellsworth Fire, Ambulance and Jerry's Heavy Rescue Towing assisted the Sheriff's Department on scene.
