ROCHESTER, Minn. -- A Rochester City Council member has won re-election, even though he's been deceased for four months.
Fifty-one-year-old Dennis Hanson filed for re-election in May and then died of a brain aneurysm in June. State law prohibited his name from being removed from the ballot.
A special election is likely next spring to fill his seat. Hanson served as council president since 2008.
