Minnesota News Roundup: Five people injured in shooting in Austin

AUSTIN, Minn. -- Authorities are looking for clues and suspects after a shooting which injured five people in the parking lot of a southern Minnesota events center. Two victims are listed in critical condition. The shooting happened early Sunday after a hip-hop event at the Lansing Corners supper club, a one-time diner near Austin. Investigators are trying to figure out what happened and say it was possibly gang activity. So far, witnesses and victims are not cooperating, or claim they didn't see anything. There have been no arrests.

Half-a-million-dollars is headed to Minnesota's chilly North Shore to help aid recovery after summer flooding. The grant from the Margaret A. Cargill Foundation will reportedly help rebuild damaged homes around Duluth -- along with boosting resources of area non-profits that serve the community. Duluth-area officials say the Cargill pledge comes at a good time since winter is near.

In the wake of not only Superstorm Sandy but a Nor'easter that followed, more Minnesota power crews are heading to the East Coast. Xcel Energy is sending 15 more workers to help restore natural gas to damaged systems around West Hempstead, New York over the next two weeks. Over 75 Xcel workers from Minnesota and Wisconsin have been on the scene since Sandy roared onto shore.
