MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee will again host two of the early rounds of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament in 2014.
The college sports association said yeterday that the second-and-third round games – which reduce the field from 64-teams-to-16 – will be played at the Bradley Center March 20th-through-22nd of 2014.
It’s the seventh time those games will be played in Milwaukee – and the NCAA has given the city high praise as a host in the past. Marquette University will again be the main sponsor.
Arena president Steve Costello says it’s a quote, “real positive for the entire community.” Eight teams play at the site during the second-and-third rounds, and legions of their fans rent out hotel rooms and spend lots of tourist dollars. Costello says the event also attracts hundreds of media members and it’s quote, “a great event for Milwaukee and sports fans.”
