Obama wins mock election at Malone
A Presidential Mock Election was put on at Malone Elementary School in Prescott by the LAMP (Gifted/Talented) students. The voting took place the same day as the Presidential Election, Nov. 6.
PRESCOTT--A Presidential Mock Election was put on at Malone Elementary School in Prescott by the LAMP (Gifted/Talented) students. The voting took place the same day as the Presidential Election, Nov. 6.
During this first quarter of school, the LAMP students studied a unit about the "Presidential Election" in order to prepare for the election. Topics included everything from who gets to vote, how and why people should vote, the electoral college, political parties, candidate platforms, political advertising, jobs of the president to the three branches of government.
Students completed independent and/or group projects based on election project ideas given through the Multiple Intelligences.
The 2012 Malone Elementary Presidential Mock Election Results were (O=Obama, R=Romney):
--Kindergarten, R= 40, O=63;
--First Grade, R=30, O=51;
--Second Grade, R=32, O=59;
--Third Grade, R=55, O=46;
--Fourth Grade, R=50, O=50 and two write-ins for Ron Paul;
--Fifth Grade, R=52, O=34;
--Staff, R=22, O=33.
Totals: Democrat, Barack Obama, 337 votes; Mitt Romney, 281 votes. The candidate who wins at Malone is Barack Obama by 56 votes.
