MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Brewers have announced a 35-game exhibition schedule for next year.

That includes 17 games at the Brewers’ Spring Training complex at Maryvale Baseball Park in Phoenix – where the spring opener will be played on February 23rd against Oakland. That’s earlier than normal. Spring camps will run longer than usual because the World Baseball Classic will be played during that time. The Brewers’ final two exhibitions will be played at Miller Park in Milwaukee on March 29th-and-30th against the Chicago White Sox. Tickets for the Arizona games will go on sale December third. More information about that is available at Brewers.com

Brewers’ outfielder Norichika Aoki says he will not play for his native Japan in next spring’s World Baseball Classic. He told Japanese manager Koji Yamamoto that he’ll need the time to prepare for his next season with Milwaukee. He’s not the only the Japanese big leaguer who won’t be available. Pitchers Yu Darvish of Texas and Hisashi Ikakuma of Seattle say they won’t play for the Japanese squad, either. The World Baseball Classic will be played March second through 19th.
