Vikes' hope bye week help Carlson heal-up

-- Minnesota Vikings tight end John Carlson of Litchfield has been plagued by injuries since his arrival to the team this offseason.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Minnesota Vikings tight end John Carlson of Litchfield has been plagued by injuries since his arrival to the team this offseason.

He continues to progress through the injuries and is hoping to get more involved in the offensive gameplan as the season resumes for the Vikes at Chicago on November 25th Carlson says he will use the bye week this week to continue to heal and rest his body, while also spending some quality time with his family. The players are not practicing this week.

With the Bears not practicing on Wednesday, there was no update on the status of quarterback Jay Cutler. Cutler suffered a concussion on Sunday night against the Houston Texans. The Bears take on the 49ers on Monday night. The Vikings visit Chicago on November 25th.

Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews has been ruled out for Sunday's game at Detroit due to a hamstring injury. Matthews suffered the injury in Week Nine's 31-17 win over Arizona. Wide receiver Greg Jennings and cornerback Charles Woodson are expected to sit out again this week, while wide receiver Jordy Nelson appears on track to return from an ankle sprain he suffered against the Cardinals. The Vikings visit Green Bay on December 2nd.
