Raiders rout Mondovi to win season opener

Elmwood's defense and athleticism were too much for Mondovi as the Raiders routed the Buffaloes 67-52 Thursday evening.

ELMWOOD - Elmwood's defense and athleticism were too much for Mondovi as the Raiders routed the Buffaloes 67-52 Thursday evening in their season, home and Dunn-St. Croix Conference opener.

EHS led 13-7 after the first quarter but went on a 12-0 run to start the second thanks to aggressive defense and scoring from Logan Wolf and Kyle Webb. Mondovi's leading scorer, junior Quinn Buchholz (17 points) rallied the Buff's back with an 8-0 to make the score 25-15 but Elmwood answered with a 10-4 run to lead 35-17 at halftime.

The Raiders led by as many as 18 in the second half, 49-31. Mondovi again came back and cut the lead down to seven at 51-44. But Wolf and Webb took over again to push the lead back to double digits. Webb finished with 20 points and 18 rebounds while Wolf had 19 points. Seth Jones finished with nine points.

Elmwood is back in action Monday at Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran.
