MINNEAPOLIS -- The Minnesota Timberwolves have signed veteran free agent forward Josh Howard. The deal is pending a physical.

Howard averaged 8.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 43 games with Utah last season. The 32-year-old has averaged 14.5 points and 5.7 boards in nine NBA seasons with Dallas, Washington and Utah. To make room, the T'wolves waived guard Will Conroy. The move should add depth to an injury-plagued roster. Head coach Rick Adelman practiced with only eight players yesterday.

The Timberwolves played with only nine players in Wednesday's loss at home to Charlotte and will be short-handed again tonight when they host Golden State. The 5-3 Wolves may have Brandon Roy back, but he won't be near 100-percent. The Warriors are 4-4, coming off of Wednesday's home win against Atlanta. Tonight's tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
