Ryden’s cared for Ellsworth Care Center residents for 40 years

When Lori Ryden started working at the Ellsworth Care Center, the Vietnam War was at its height, Richard Nixon was president and the U.S. was in the midst of a recession.
It was 1972 and the local nursing home--not even a decade old at the time—was known as Pierce County Manor.
“I still talk with people who don’t recognize it as the care center because they call it ‘the manor’,” Ryden said Thursday upon the occasion of her 40th anniversary as an employee there.
