TO THE EDITOR: Early Oct. 13, we lost our home to a fire.

As tragic and overwhelming as that is, the outpouring of support from our families, friends, co-workers, neighbors and community has been even more overwhelming. We immediately started a list of people to credit.

We commend the neighbors who first noticed the fire and called 911, alerted us and made sure we got out of the home, brought us warm clothes and shoes to wear, and for all your help and concern. We don’t even know some of your names, but we appreciated your help.

We recognize the Prescott Police Department, especially Officer Eric Michaels, for your concern and assistance in securing the area, and making sure the neighborhood would be safe. A big salute to the Prescott, Hastings (Minn.) and River Falls fire departments for their efforts to extinguish the fire and salvage whatever they could of our personal belongings. We truly appreciate your effort.

To Terry and Joanie, who took us in that night, gave us a place to stay and the use of their home for as long as we needed. You’ll never know how greatly we appreciated that. To all our family, both immediate and extended, for all your offers of help and support, whether it was financial, emotional or physical, we appreciate you for being there.

Appreciation goes to VFW Post 9060, the UCC church parishioners, and all the local businesses and organizations who have helped in any way, big or small. To all our friends and co-workers who gave donations, brought food and the many, many offers of help—kudos to you.

If we have missed anyone, please know it was purely unintentional. We appreciate all of you from the bottom of our hearts and your kindness will never be forgotten. God bless.
