Spring election filings open with new month
When spring is again in the air, there will be more than just relatively mild weather and new growth on the horizon.
The spring election will be part of the season, too, and preparations for it are now getting underway. The nomination process for area municipal and school offices up for a vote in the spring begins with the coming month. Candidates can circulate nomination papers or file, as appropriate, until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, for the election on Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
Pierce County residents seeking area school positions file declarations of candidacy, while those for municipal posts circulate papers, in most instances. However, the Villages of Bay City and Maiden Rock will hold caucus meetings in January for nomination purposes instead.
If a primary election becomes necessary for any of the municipalities or school districts, it would be held on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013.
