A different service will collect garbage and recyclables from Village of Ellsworth residents beginning with the new year.

Earlier this month, the village board awarded the contract for the service to Paul’s Industrial Garage (PIG) of Hager City, effective Jan. 1, 2013. Veolia Environmental Services and its predecessor companies, including Onyx, have served the residential segment of the community in the past.

Information about the changeover is being distributed to local residents and has been shared with the Herald by Village Clerk-Treasurer Peggy Nelson. The last pick-up by Veolia is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 31.
