Pierce County law enforcement officers believe they have found the suspect who robbed the Ellsworth Super America back in August.
Jason Steven Kearns, 28, W6696 150th Ave., Hager City, was charged last Thursday in Circuit Court with armed robbery. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance 10 a.m., December 3.
According to the criminal complaint:
Ellsworth police were notified of the robbery in the early morning hours of August 1. They were told a male subject wearing a blue bandana and a brown colored jacket with the hood pulled up over his head, entered the store carrying a pistol. The clerk told police the suspect asked for money, he gave $590 to him, and then the suspect walked out of the store with no vehicles in sight.
A witness told police, after hearing about the robbery on a scanner, he heard a crotch rocket-type motorcycle traveling eastbound on Summit Ave., at the same time, at a high rate of speed.
Later that afternoon, another witness told police, he saw a pair of dishwasher-type rubber gloves on County Highway C. After reading the robbery article on www.rivertowns.net, which said the suspect wore a pair of rubber gloves, he recalled seeing those gloves and notified police. Police were able to find those gloves and sent them to the State Crime Lab for DNA and fingerprint analysis.
