GREEN BAY - With today's final practice before the Green Bay Packers take on the New York Giants Sunday, it's looking doubtful that linebacker Clay Matthews will hit the field.
Matthews has been out since Week 9. Coach Mike McCarthy expected his injury to sideline him for just a couple weeks. This is the latest of multiple hamstring injuries for the three-time Pro Bowler. Meanwhile it looks more likely that wide receiver Greg Jennings will be back. Jennings practiced in pads during yesterday's workout.
The University of Wisconsin men's ice hockey will try and increase its seven home game winning streak against Minnesota State tonight at the Kohl Center. The Badgers have only lost one time to the Mavericks in 12 meetings at the Kohl Center. Record-wise the teams are close with Wisconsin hitting the ice with a 1-5-2 record while Minnesota is at 3-5-2.
The University of Wisconsin men's basketball team will try to take down favorite Creighton at the Las Vegas Invitational tonight at 10. The Badgers are coming off of back-to-back wins after suffering a double digit loss to Florida. 6-foot-1 guard Ben Brust is considered one to watch. He's averaging 14.5 points per game and 9.3 rebounds. Wisconsin will play a total of four games as part of the tournament.
The University of Wisconsin Athletic Department, the National W Club and the Wisconsin Alumni Association have announced plans for a Wisconsin Football Kickoff Party in Indianapolis before the Dec. 1 Big Ten Championship Game. The event will be held at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Organizers encourage fans to attend the free event to get ready to cheer at the big game.
