LA CROSSE - One term is evidently enough for the youngest person to ever serve as mayor of La Crosse.

Matt Harter was 24 years old when he was first elected. Now, Harter says he has decided not to run for a second term. He says he’s going to seek what he calls a “normal job” in the private sector before deciding if he wants a career in politics.

Several members of the La Crosse City Council say they aren’t surprised by his decision. That council overrode 22 of Harter’s 28 vetoes.
