BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Marquette University women's basketball team improved to 3-2 last night, with a 77-74 overtime victory at South Dakota State.
The Golden Eagles led by eight at the half, but the Jackrabbits could have won the game had they not missed a three-point attempt at the end of regulation. Marquette went up by six in the first three minutes of the overtime period, and never looked back. The Eagles outshot South Dakota State 45-to-40-percent, with a 38-33 rebounding advantage. Arlesia Morse led Marquette with 23 points. Ashley Eide scored 21 for South Dakota State, which fell to 3-4.
Marquette improved to 3-2, and will host Fordham on Saturday. Tonight, the Marquette men play at Florida in their Big East-SEC Challenge. And the UW-Milwaukee women are at Illinois State.
