Prescott girl to be spotlighted in radiothonSeven-year-old Madison Hildebrandt will be among a select group of children featured in this year's KS95 for Kids Radiothon.
Madison Hildebrandt of Prescott, along with her parents, Missy and Jeff, will be among a select group of children featured in this year’s KS95 for Kids® radiothon. The radiothon, which begins at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 6 and concludes at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 7, is a two-day broadcast on 94.5 FM, KS95, that raises funds for Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare and the Children’s Cancer Research Fund (CCRF). The public is invited to donate by calling 1-877-253-5437 (KIDS) on December 6-7, or online at www.ks95.com keyword “Kids.”
On a chilly winter morning, Missy received an urgent call from her husband just minutes after he’d left to drive their daughter, Madison, to school. That call changed an ordinary day into the most terrifying of her life. “He said there had been an accident and that I needed to come right away,” says Missy.
In the following days, specialists in Gillette’s Pediatric Intensive Care monitored Madison closely while the swelling in her brain continued to diminish. As Madison healed, Gillette staff ensured that Missy remained at her daughter’s side. “In those moments, being right there with her was most important thing in the world.”
Throughout her recovery, Madison’s family was struck by her sheer willpower. “As soon as she figured out she could walk, she was more determined than ever to move around,” says Missy. “Soon, there was no stopping her!”
In the past thirteen years, the KS95 for Kids radiothon has raised more than $11.6 million for Gillette and CCRF. Funds are raised through phone and online pledges, corporate donations, and KS95 for Kids’ Change for Kids, a change collection program for schools, businesses and other community groups.
