MADISON — Assembly Speaker-elect Robin Vos (R-Burlington) appointed Representative Dean Knudson (R-Hudson) on Nov 30 to serve on the legislature’s powerful 16-member budget-writing committee.
The Joint Committee on Finance is responsible for reviewing all taxing and spending proposals in the legislature and serves as a fiscal watchdog for the state government.
Speaker-elect Vos cited Representative Knudson’s unique qualifications to serve on the Joint Committee on Finance.
“Rep. Knudson brings an important perspective to the finance team as a small business owner and former mayor,” said Speaker-elect Vos. “I am confident that he’ll protect the best interests of the taxpayer.”
“Wisconsin’s fiscal position has improved dramatically in the last 24 months, but there is still a lot of work left to do,” said Representative Knudson. “My first priority in the coming session is to pass a budget that protects taxpayers, fosters economic growth, and enhances opportunities for all citizens.”
Representative Knudson was recently re-elected to his second term in the legislature representing the 30th Assembly District. A practicing veterinarian, Knudson has also served as the Vice-Chair of the Committee on Colleges and Universities and as the Mayor of Hudson.
