Another Schaffhausen hearing scheduled for this morning

Aaron Schaffhausen is due back in court this morning.

Aaron Schaffhausen is due back in court this morning. He’s the man accused of killing his three young daughters in July, at the home where his ex-wife was living in River Falls. A judge has given the 35-year-old Schaffhausen until December 14th to decide whether he’ll plead insanity to the slayings. And he has until the end of the month to decide whether to seek a jury from outside the local area for a possible month-long trial that’s scheduled next April. Prosecutors are awaiting a judge’s ruling on whether some of the state’s evidence can be sealed for now. The state says Schaffhausen could use some of that evidence to try and harm his ex-wife Jessica. Lenders have filed a foreclosure suit on the home where the slayings occurred. They said Schaffhausen has only made one payment on a mortgage he took out in March – two months after he was divorced, and four months before the murders. His family recently listed the home with a real estate agency – but the listing was canceled after Jessica pleaded not to sell the house. She feared that ex-husband would benefit from a sale.
