PC girls hoops lose another heartbreaker

PLUM CITY - Elaina Danzinger's rebound basket at the buzzer was waived off by the officials and the end result was a St. Croix Central victory 31-29 over Plum City Friday evening.

Danzinger rebounded a missed last second shot by Sarah Gilles. Plum City was able to get the ball off a steal on an out-of-bounds play.

PC rallied from a 22-12 deficit in the second half to take a 27-26 lead with three minutes to go.

Central then made several free throws to go ahead again 30-27. But PC stayed close and had a chance to win or at least tie the game at the buzzer. The Blue Devils, 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the Dunn-St. Croix Conference, have lost three game by a total of eight points, including a 23-22 loss Tuesday at Elmwood.

Central's Laura Desmith led all scorers with 15 points while Gilles finished with 13 points and Danzinger had seven points.
