MILWAUKEE - Several online publications are mentioning the Milwaukee Brewers as being in on the pursuit of two of the top free agents.

CBSSports.com reports Brewers general manager Doug Melvin mentioned he’d had a recent conversation with Greinke, the top pitcher available and a former Brewer. Melvin told the reporter he just likes talking baseball with the ace right hander, but Milwaukee needs pitching. The general manager admits a big salary could be a big problem for the small market team.

But, Milwaukee might be the right-sized market for Josh Hamilton. He’s had substance abuse problems in the past and his first life coach has been Johnny Narron, who is Milwaukee’s hitting coach right now. Hamilton is expecting a big pay day, but some teams have been scared off by his injury and personal problems. There is no front-runner yet.
