AMERY - A week after winning a doubleheader in Cannon Falls, the Ellsworth boys and girls basketball teams were both beaten in Amery Friday.
The Ellsworth girls basketball team dropped to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in the Middle Border Conference after a 42-29 loss and the boys' team fell 55-44 to make their overall record 2-4 overall and 0-2 in the MBC.
Leading 24-13 at halftime, the Warriors girls' were led by Ashley Whalen, who finished with nine points.
The Panthers got a team-high eight points from Riley Harrison, with Tacia Kuhl and Rebecca Matzek chipping in with six and five points, respectively.
Both teams will be back in action on Friday with the EHS boys hosting Durand and the girls' team at Durand.
