State DOJ to issue new emergency rules on concealed carry permits

MADISON - The Wisconsin Justice Department will enact a second round of emergency rules next week to make sure it can continue to issue concealed carry permits.
The rules put in place last year will expire next Saturday. The agency has drafted a set of permanent regulations, but they need to be approved by the state Legislature.
So far, neither the state Senate nor Assembly have acted on the rules. Leadership says that action will be taken when the new session starts next month. The emergency rules don’t need legislative approval. As of two weeks ago, the state had issued a little over 143,000 rules on issuing concealed carry permits.
