Tasha Schuh of Ellsworth, inspirational speaker, has announced the release of her first book, “My Last Step Backward.”
Just in time for the holiday gift-giving season, her book will be showcased at numerous locations in the Western Wisconsin area.
Ellsworth residents should mark their calendars for next Monday. Schuh will have books available to sign and personalize, starting at 1 p.m. in the Ellsworth High School library, and prior to the holiday concert in the school’s cafetorium until 7:30 p.m.
After showcasing her talent as the lead in her high school’s production of “Grease,” Schuh began to dream of a career in theatre. No one presumed the stage itself would steal her dream--and almost her life--during a rehearsal for the next big show.
Just days before her opening night performance in “The Wizard of Oz,” Schuh took one step backwards and fell 16 feet through a trap door. Landing on the concrete floor of the historic Sheldon Theatre in Red Wing, she spent the next three days preparing for a surgery that would at best leave her a C-5 quadriplegic.
Post-op complications turned Schuh’s struggle and ultimate triumph into an unbelievable journey. From loss and grief, to self-discovery and achievement, her faith, resilience and honesty have allowed her to leave the old Tasha behind while she confronts the new Tasha’s life from a state of the art wheelchair.
This poignant memoir from the current Miss Wheelchair USA will inspire readers to welcome adversity--to “face your own trap door of opportunity.” Discover why people believe Schuh when she says, “I would not trade my life with anyone…every day is a gift…and I will never take a step backward again.”
Schuh’s memoir will redefine courage for every reader.
