Kern a winner in Starquest competition
Terressa Kern, age 13, and Colin Mattoon, 16, won the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre’s ninth annual Starquest vocal competition on Dec. 1.
ELMWOOD--Terressa Kern, age 13, and Colin Mattoon, 16, won the Eau Claire Children’s Theatre’s ninth annual Starquest vocal competition on Dec. 1.
Competing in the 13 and Under Category, Kern performed Alexander Burke’s “Hallelujah.” She is a seventh grader at Elmwood Middle School.
Mattoon of Fall Creek won the Age 14-18 Category. The 16-year-old junior at Fall Creek High School performed “I Won’t Give Up” by Jason Mraz.
Forty area youths entered this year’s contest and competed in the preliminary round on Nov. 10. Ten finalists in each category were chosen to compete at the event on Dec. 1. The winners and runners-up received cash prizes.
Other area finalists included Zoe Hopkins-Hile, River Falls.
