The Green Bay Packers added a much-needed defensive lineman yesterday, when they promoted nose tackle Junior Miller from their practice squad. The Packers signed him in late October, after spending parts of two years with the Chicago Bears. Miller spent most of last year on the Bears’ practice squad before he was promoted to the roster for the final game. This year, he was cut at the end of Chicago’s training camp. Miller had 18 sacks in college at Southern University. The Packer coaches have said they particularly like Miller’s pass-rushing ability. The team can use some people up front, with C-J Wilson and Mike Neal out due to injuries. Green Bay only had four defensive linemen rotating in the three spots during Sunday night’s home win over Detroit. To make room for Miller, the Packers cut linebacker Vic So’oto. That was a day after the team cut defensive end Johnny Jones, who was on injured reserve. The Packers are 9-and-4, and will play at 8-and-5 Chicago this Sunday. The Packers will start going over the game plan for the Bears today. They can clinch the N-F-C North Division title with a win.
