-- Vikings running back Adrian Peterson says he does monitor his numbers and realizes he is approaching some big milestones this season.

Vikings running back Adrian Peterson says he does monitor his numbers and realizes he is approaching some big milestones this season. Peterson has 1600 yards rushing this season, leaving his 400 short of the magical 2000-yard mark. Peterson would need to average just more than 133-yards per game to get to 2000. Peterson would need to a average 168-yards per game to break the single-season NFL rushing record of 2,105 yards held by Eric Dickerson. Peterson has rushed for 100-yards or more in seven consecutive games, which is a Vikings team record. Peterson said yesterday he's aware of all the numbers and his goal is to be the best runner he can be and achieve whatever he can. But, he also said his main goal is to win a Super Bowl. Minnesota is at St. Louis on Sunday for a noon game.

Minnesota special teams coordinator Mike Priefer said yesterday that Kluwe is creating too many distractions. Priefer says Kluwe's antics are "getting old" and he should focus on punting.
