Raiding of UW coaching staff continues

MADISON - The uncertainty of no current head football coach has cost the University of Wisconsin program more assistant coaches over the weekend.

The latest is linebackers coach Andy Buh taking the job of defensive coordinator at California, joining the staff of new head coach Sonny Dykes.

North Carolina State introduced Matt Canada as its new offensive coordinator yesterday. He will join Dave Doeren with the Wolfpack, a head coach he worked for at Northern Illinois. Canada replaced Paul Chryst in Madison last year and he says he plans to stay through the Rose Bowl against Stanford, as are all of the departing coaches.

New Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema says hiring former Wisconsin assistant Charlie Partridge will help expand the recruiting base at the University of Arkansas. Bret Bielema announced the hiring of Partridge as defensive line coach yesterday. Bielema and Partridge coached together in Madison for five years, including three straight Rose Bowl trips. Partridge is the second Badger coach to follow Bielema south to the SEC. Partridge had served as associate head coach, co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach in Madison this season. Partridge will also be joining former UW secondary coach Chris Ash, who will be Arkansas' defensive coordinator.

Finally UW wide receivers coach Zach Azzani will taking a similar position on the staff of new head coach Butch Jones at Tennessee.

In all at least 12 assistant coaches have come and gone through Madison over the past two seasons. The only ones left on the current staff who have not taken other jobs are offensive line coach Bart Miller, tight ends coach Eddie Faulkner, running backs coach Thomas Hammock and strength coach Ben Strickland.
