Young “shepherds” and “angels” entertained a crowd gathered for the dress rehearsal of “Miracle on Bethlehem Street” at St. Francis Catholic Church in Ellsworth Wednesday. The altar area was transformed into a motel lobby during this scene in St. Francis School’s annual Christmas play. Choreography was part of the presentation; the elementary school-age performers used hand gestures to convey a message dating back to Jesus’ birth. They were accompanied by choirs of their peers, raising voices in song. The play opened before an evening audience last week.
