Marjorie L. Meacham (nee Reichert), age 99, of Prescott, passed away peacefully on Dec. 16 at Prescott Nursing & Rehabilitation Community.

Marjorie was born Nov. 28, 1913, in Trempealeau, Wis., to John and Blanche (Northup) Reichert. The family moved to Prescott where she graduated from high school.

Marjorie married Lorenzo (Hod) Meacham at Congregational Church in Prescott on July 20, 1936. The couple lived in Southern California for several years, moving to Trimbelle where they purchased and operated the Meacham family farm. They also were involved in the seed business. Upon retiring from the farm, they moved to Prescott. Marjorie worked for the St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company, now Travelers Insurance. She started as a coder and rose up the ranks to become the first multicover woman underwriter, in charge of underwriting for half the state of Minnesota. After retiring from insurance, she and her husband became six and sixxers, spending six months in Prescott and six in Bradenton, Fla.

After her husband passed away in 1982, Marjorie continued this routine until the age of 90 when she became a full-time Prescott resident.

Marjorie loved to travel. She spent time in Egypt and Mexico, as well as many of the 50 states, including Alaska twice.

She was a longtime member of the United Church of Christ in Prescott.

She is survived by two brothers, Wayne and Jerry (Colleen); two sisters, Marie (Andrew) James and Arlene Russell; four nieces and four nephews.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Doris (Donald) Becker; two brothers, Arthur and Lynn (Arleda); and one niece.

A memorial service for Marjorie will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21, at the Prescott United Church of Christ. Visitation will be on Friday from 9-11 a.m. at the church. Private family burial will be at the Trimbelle Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the United Church of Christ.
