Snowstorm postponing Andersen announcement until Friday
Wisconsin Sports-- The Wisconsin football team is expected to introduce Gary Andersen tomorrow as its new coach.
MADISON - The University of Wisconsin football team is expected to introduce Gary Andersen tomorrow as its new coach. It could have happened today – but with up to 18-inches of snow in the forecast, only vital functions are operating at UW-Madison.
The word started leaking out on Tuesday that U-W athletic director Barry Alvarez had chosen the 48-year-old Andersen to replace Bret Bielema. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel says Andersen will bring most of his Utah State assistants with him – and running backs’ coach Thomas Hammock and assistant secondary coach Ben Strickland are expected to be the only holdovers from Bielema’s staff.
Most other Badger assistants have already found new jobs elsewhere – but they’ll all stay with the team through the Rose Bowl. Reports also say that offensive line coach Bart Miller could also stay. He could become the tight ends’ coach if Andersen brings in his current line coach with the Aggies, T.J. Woods. Andersen has coached at Utah State for the last four years.
