Milk production rises in November again

Wisconsin News
-- Wisconsin’s dairy cows continue to out-perform their counterparts from around the country.

Wisconsin’s dairy cows continue to out-perform their counterparts from around the country. According to new government figures, the Badger State’s milk production grew by four-point-seven percent in November from the same time a year ago – well above the national increase of one-percent. America’s Dairyland produced just under two-point-two billion pounds of milk, while producers from around the country made almost 16-billion pounds. California remains the nation’s top milk producer, even though its output has been going down for most of the year. November’s production in the Golden State slipped by another two-point-three percent, to about three-point-two-seven billion pounds. Wisconsin added six-thousand cows to its dairy herd in November, for a total of just over one-and-a-quarter million. The state’s production per cow went up by around 70 pounds, to 17-hundred-30 per animal. Idaho, the Number-three producer, had a two-point-three percent jump in its November milk out-put. Number-four New York had a three-point-two percent increase. And Number-five Pennsylvania had a small increase of four-tenths-of-a-percent.
