Timberwolves upend one of NBA's top teams
Minnesota Sports-- The Oklahoma City Thunder's 12-game winning streak came to an end when they fell to the Timberwolves, 99-93, at the Target Center on Thursday night.
(Minneapolis, MN) -- The Oklahoma City Thunder's 12-game winning streak came to an end when they fell to the Timberwolves, 99-93, at the Target Center on Thursday night.
Kevin Love led the way with 28 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, while Alexey Shved contributed 12 points, 12 assists and seven boards. J.J. Barea had 18 points off the bench as Minnesota improved to 13-11.
Kevin Durant scored a game-high 33 points in the loss. Russell Westbrook dropped in 30, but shot 9-of-28 from the field with eight turnovers. He just missed a triple-double, adding in 11 rebounds and nine assists. Oklahoma City was without Kevin Martin due to injury. The Thunder's record stands at 21-5.

The Minnesota Timberwolves announced that the team waived forward Josh Howard after an MRI revealed he had a torn ACL in his right knee. The injury occurred in the second quarter on December 14th at New Orleans and will sideline him the rest of the season. Howard was signed by the Wolves as a free agent on November 16th and averaged 6.7 points and 3.3 rebounds in 11 games this season.

The Minnesota Timberwolves will be at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Childrens Hospital on Friday afternoon delivering about 400 wrapped toys to patients. Timberwolves players Lou Amundson and Luke Ridnour along with mascot Crunch will be among the group making the special delivery Friday afternoon starting at 3. The Timberwolves in conjunction with the Lynx and SPIRE Federal Credit Union, conducted a toy drive earlier this month and will deliver their contributions to patients and their families today.
