EAU CLAIRE - A Michigan man died of a heart attack shortly after having an accident on Thursday night, Dec. 20.
Lewis Howard Stone, 58, Dundee, Michigan, was driving his semi truck on Interstate 94 near Eau Claire during Thursday night's storm. At about 8:52 p.m., near mile post 59, Stone's truck collided with a pickup pulling a trailer when the pickup lost control on an icy stretch.
The semi slid into the median and the pickup slid into the right ditch. There were no injuries. The semi driver walked across the interstate to check on the occupants of the pickup. As the occupants of the pick-up reassured the semi driver they were okay, the semi driver suddenly collapsed.
A State Trooper arrived on scene shortly after the semi driver collapsed. The trooper performed CPR on the semi driver until the ambulance arrived. The semi driver was transported to a local hospital in Eau Claire, where he passed away later that evening.
