FRANKLIN - There is no Christmas Cougar in suburban Milwaukee. Franklin Mayor Tom Taylor said tracks spotted near a bike trail last week belonged to a large dog – and not a cougar, as a Milwaukee County parks’ employee had suspected.

A wildlife specialist from the state DNR was brought in to examine the tracks, after several people reported sightings of a large cat during the past few weeks.

The sightings were said to be in Franklin, Oak Creek, and Hales Corners – all to the south and southwest of Milwaukee.
