UW football team arrives in California for Rose Bowl week

LOS ANGELES - The University of Wisconsin football team arrived in Los Angeles late yesterday, to continue getting ready for next Tuesday’s Rose Bowl Game against Stanford.

Coach Barry Alvarez said the Badgers are ready for their final week of preparation, despite having shorter bowl practices than under previous coach Bret Bielema. Wisconsin had 10 workouts in Madison of 60-to-90-minutes each. Alvarez said the game plan is set, and the players have worked hard and concentrated well.

The Badgers come in at 8-5 – and Alvarez notes that this year’s team has already played more games than in most of his 16 previous seasons on the Wisconsin sideline. Therefore, Alvarez says quote, “There’s no reason to beat ‘em up and keep them out there, just to have repetition after repetition.” He said the players need to stay fresh and healthy – and they just need to keep their timing in the process.
