Fred Eastwood Weghorn died peacefully on Christmas Eve at the Kinnic Health and Rehab in River Falls, Wis.

Fred Eastwood Weghorn died peacefully on Christmas Eve at the Kinnic Health and Rehab in River Falls, Wis.

He was born Oct. 14, 1927, to Dewey and Matilda (Eastwood) Weghorn, in Hartland Township. He attended school in Ellsworth and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. Fred retired from Niro Inc. of Hudson in 1992 and soon after moved from Ellsworth to Socorro, N.M. There, he made good friends and almost daily visited the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge to watch the many types of migratory birds and endangered species.

He is survived by his sisters, Susan Daugherty of Madison, Wis., Georgia Zirul of River Falls, and Pam Adamson of Memphis, Tenn. Fred is further survived by his nieces and nephews and their children.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Matilda, and his brother, Arthur Weghorn.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, with memorial visitation from 12-1 p.m. at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home in River Falls. Friends and family will gather at Robin Adamson's home following the service.
