ROCHESTER, Minn. -- Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has surgery on his lower spine at Mayo Clinic this morning to correct a constriction known as stenosis.
Dayton spokeswoman Katharine Tinucci says the governor wanted it taken care of before the legislative session and it's expected he'll be released from the hospital next Monday.
She says the governor plans to continue to meet with commissioners and staff at the Governor's Residence while he's recovering. Tinucci says the surgery is *not* expected to affect the release of the governor's budget proposal the third week of January.
