HOUSTON, Tex.-- After a full week of preparation in Houston tonight the University of Minnesota football team squares off against Texas Tech in the Meineke Car Care Bowl at Reliant Stadium.

The Golden Gophers will mix in senior MarQueis Gray at quarterback tonight along with freshmen Phillip Nelson on offense and their defense will be tested by the Red Raiders passing game. Texas Tech comes in averaging 362 yards per game and their offense piles up 501 total yards while scoring just over 37 points/gm. Minnesota's defense has allowed just one 300+ passing game this season.

A victory tonight would give the Gopher's seven wins on the season, matching their win total from the 2008 season, and would snap a four-game bowl losing streak. Kick-off tonight is at 8 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on ESPN.

Gophers senior cornerback Troy Stoudermire needs just 14 yards to break the NCAA record for career kick and return yardage. The record of 3,517 is currently held by Houston's Tyson Carrier, and Stoudermire hopes to break the record in front of his friends and family in Houston, as he played high school ball in Dallas.
