Spring Valley/Elmwood wrestlers get huge win over Glenwood City
Spring Valley/Elmwood took a big step in repeating as Dunn-St. Croix Conference champions in their first step Thursday evening.
GLENWOOD CITY - Spring Valley/Elmwood took a big step in repeating as Dunn-St. Croix Conference champions in their first step Thursday evening.
In the first D-SC dual meet of the season the No. 7 ranked SVE beat out No. 6 Glenwood City 37-34.
SV/Elmwood had to rally to win the dual when GC took a 28-15 lead after nine matches. The Redbirds did so in the extreme upper and lower weights starting at 195 with Ethan Hofacker's pin followed by pin by Mike Roesler at 220 which only took :37 seconds to accomplish. While SVE gave up a pin at heavyweight to make the score 34-27, they final two matches as Andrew Webb took a forfeit at 106 and Derek Huebel closed out with an 11-2 major decision over Damian Hoitomt.
Also winning for SVE were Tyler Berg at 126 pounds, Ryan Berg at 132 and Jed Schlegel at 138, which Spring Valley/Elmwood an early advantage.
SVE improves to 4-4 overall in dual meets. The wrestle at Cameron next Tuesday.
