Prescott and Ellsworth were both beaten in Middle Border Conference boys basketball games Friday evening.

The Panthers lost 68-56 to Somerset at home while Prescott's struggles on the road in league play continued as they lost 58-49 at No. 10 ranked Durand.

A trio of Ellsworth players scored in double digits, but it was not enough to secure its first Middle Border Conference win

Chrystian Kulow led the Panthers with 17 points, while Logan Armstrong and Tyler Marson added 15 and 12 points, respectively. Somerset’s Gaelin Elmore had a game-high 23 points in the victory.

Meanwhile Prescott's Nick Jacobsen had 22 points and Clay Seifert scored 14 points but Durand did one better with three players in double figures as Jake Weber scored 16 points, Colton Berger 15 points and Jack Komro 11 points.

The unbeaten Panthers, now 10-0 overall and 5-0 in the MBC, held a 23-21 lead at halftime and opened up an eight point lead after outscoring PHS 16-10 in the third quarter. Durand also a near-perfect 16-fo17 from the free-throw line.

Ellsworth will try again to get their first league win next Friday at home vs. Osceola. Prescott will be at home Thursday vs. New Richmond.
