Three EHS wrestlers still alive for titles at Cheesehead Invite

Ellsworth High School's wrestling team has three wrestlers in championship brackets at the Cheesehead Invitational.

KAUKAUNA - Ellsworth High School's wrestling team has three wrestlers in championship brackets at the Cheesehead Invitational.

Jens Lantz and 120, Tristian Mueller at 138 and Gabe Frandsen at 170 are all wrestling in championship brackets after the first days action on Friday.

Lantz, however, took his first loss of the season in overtime to Vincent Turk of Montini, Ill. Catholic by an 8-3 sudden decision.

All three wrestlers won their first matches to go into pools for the top 16 place winners and all three have made it to the championship bracket.

Other Ellsworth wrestlers in the placing brackets for the top 16 include Brody Kemmerer at heavyweight, Jake Murphy at 195; and Brad Cain at 132.

The Panthers are currently in 18th place out of the 28 schools competing in this year's meet but they are over 120 points at 134. Southeast Polk County, Iowa and Marmion, Ill. Academy are tied for first with 354 points.
