Woman IDed after death from head-on collision on Mississippi River bridge
Western Wisconsin News-- A woman killed in a head-on crash on a Mississippi River bridge was identified this morning at 73-year-old Lorraine Siegenthaler of McGregor, Iowa.
PRAIRIE DU CHIEN - A woman killed in a head-on crash on a Mississippi River bridge was identified this morning at 73-year-old Lorraine Siegenthaler of McGregor, Iowa.
Four other people were injured in the mishap, which occurred late yesterday afternoon on the Highway 18 Marquette-Joliet Bridge between Prairie du Chien and Iowa. The State Patrol said Siegenthaler’s car going west into Wisconsin when her car crossed the center-line and hit a van head-on. The van driver – a 43-year-old Prairie du Chien woman – was flown to a La Crosse hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her condition was not immediately disclosed.
Three other people in the van – a Stueben woman and two children – suffered minor injuries, and were treated at a Prairie du Chien hospital. The bridge was closed for several hours for clean-up and investigation. Authorities said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
