The prep wrestling regular season is nearing it's conclusion both this week and next. Crossface Magazine has just released its lists of the top high school wrestlers in the state by division and several Pierce County wrestlers are on them.
In Division 2, Ellsworth's Jens Lantz is listed as the top wrestler at 120 pounds. Prescott's Alex Stuhl is ranked No. 8 at 126; Ellsworth's Brad Cain is No. 7 at 132; Prescott's Troy Urman is ranked No. 5 at 145; Logan Kemmerer is listed as No. 7 at 160 even though he's been out of action due to a knee injury since Christmas; Gabe Frandsen is ranked No. 2 at 170.
In Division 3 Spring Valley/Elmwood's Derek Huebel is ranked No. 8 at 113 pounds; Tyler Berg was sixth at 126 and Zach Newton eighth at 145. Several SVE wreslters received special mention, including Logan Newton at 120; Jed Schlegel at 138; Kevin Fesenmaier at 170.
This week's dual meet action Thursday has No. 4 Ellsworth hosting No. 7 Amery; No. 10 Spring Valley/Elmwood at Mondovi and Prescott hosting Somerset. Ellsworth will also be competing in the Forest Lake, Minn. Duals this weekend.
