U women's hoops can't hold lead, lose to Penn State

-- The University of Minnesota women's basketball team led for much of the second last night, but could not hold on to beat eighth-ranked Penn State. The home-standing Nittany Lions rallied for a 64-59 win over the Golden Gophers.

STATE COLLEGE, Penn. -- The University of Minnesota women's basketball team led for much of the second last night, but could not hold on to beat eighth-ranked Penn State. The home-standing Nittany Lions rallied for a 64-59 win over the Golden Gophers.

Maggie Lucas scored a game-high 26 for Penn State, while Minnesota was paced by sophomore Rachel Banham of Lakeville, who poured in 19. The Gophers committed 23 turnovers in the loss.

Minnesota is now 13-7 overall and 2-4 in the conference. The Gophers host Illinois on Monday night at Williams Arena.
