SPARTA - Fort McCoy is gearing up for its spring turkey hunt – and it’s taking applications now.

Those who register at the Fort McCoy Web site by February 11th will be entered in a computerized lottery for permits. If there are any permits left over, hunters can apply for them on a first-come, first-served basis. And anyone who gets a general Wisconsin turkey permit will not be eligible for one at Fort McCoy.

The season begins in April. The fort will have six hunting periods. One will be three days long, and the others will each last five days.
