MADISON - A 2-0 blanking of Wisconsin runs the top-ranked Minnesota collegiate women’s hockey team’s record unbeaten streak to 33 games in a row.
The No. 1 ranked Golden Gophers won at LaBahn Arena Friday in front of over 1,700 fans. The Minnesota streak started with a 5-2 win over North Dakota last February. The old record of 32 games without a loss was set by Wisconsin in 2007, then repeated in the 2010-2011 season.
The U scored twice in the first period then used goalie Noora Raty's 26 saves as insurance. And they still outshot the No. 8 Badgers 35-25 as UW goalie Alex Rigsby made 33 saves. The Gopher goals came from Hannah Brandt and Mira Jaluso, the latter on a 5-on-3 power play.
